Your first course of action should be to celebrate, you have just sat the hardest exam there is and survived to tell the tale. Let us hear you say out loud “Well done, Me”. But now you're thinking 'what do my scores actually mean and what can I do with them?' Medify’s got this covered, just keep reading.
As a guide, an overall score of or above 2800 in the previous years usually placed you around the 90th percentile mark. While this may change slightly in 2020 depending on the difficulty of the questions and the preparedness of the candidates, an overall score above 2800 is likely to land you an interview spot if you have a competitive ATAR score.
Apply like crazy:
Applying to all the universities you possibly can, across the whole country, maximises your opportunity of gaining interview offers.
Get your interview prep on the go:
Medical school interviews can be challenging; the more prepared you are, the better. The medical school interview is just as crucial, if not more so, than your UCAT ANZ percentile score and academic achievements. It takes time to perfect your interview skills with lots of practice. Do not leave it until the last minute to prepare; even choosing the correct outfit should take a considerable amount of time and effort.
Make the grade:
Make sure to do your absolute best to gain the highest grade for your ATAR. Combine this with a great UCAT ANZ percentile and a respectable interview performance, you will be swamped with medical school place offers.
If you are a local applicant, rural applicant, an applicant expecting to gain an extremely high ATAR or an applicant of dentistry, with an overall UCAT ANZ score within this range, you are likely to be offered an interview.
Apply to them all:

Aim high:
A high ATAR may just push you across that acceptance line. Do your absolute best to achieve the highest ATAR you can. Combine this with a good UCAT ANZ percentile and a stellar interview performance, you will are likely to receive an offer of place.

The average UCAT ANZ 2019 score was calculated to be 2481, so a score below 2500 is likely to place you in the bottom half of all 2020 UCAT ANZ candidates. With a score below 2500, you may not receive offers for medical school entry interviews.
Find another route:
Not all universities, such as James Cook University and Bond University, have the UCAT ANZ as an entry requirement; research these or other similar universities and apply to them. Make sure to gain an amazing ATAR and prepare well for interviews.
Try again:
Resit the UCAT ANZ again next year; if you are really determined to get into that specific university but it demands a great UCAT ANZ score, keep trying until you achieve it. Our UCAT ANZ Online Course is perfect for practising, developing and improving your performance and it is never too early to start preparing for UCAT ANZ success.
Take a different perspective:
